After arriving at the Airport in Cologne/Bonn (CGN), there are different options for making your way to Duesseldorf main station (“Duesseldorf Hbf”). The easiest is to take the “Regional express” number 6 (RE6) going to Minden whilst stopping at Duesseldorf - Duisburg - Essen - Dortmund - Hamm - Bielefeld on the way. The enclosed link (VRR RE6) will lead you to the “RE6” departure timetable. In general the train leaves once every hour. Please leave the train at Duesseldorf main station (“Duesseldorf Hbf”). Alternatively different train routes can be chosen to reach Duesseldorf Hbf. However these normally require further changes of trains. For further information about alternative routes use the link (Timetable Information). Tickets can be purchased at the platform during your wait.

After arriving in Duesseldorf Hbf, please take the subway number 79 (U79) leaving for “University/Botanical garden” (VRR U79). The platforms for the departure of the Subway are in (beneath) the mainstation, so it is not required to leave the main station. A Subway departs every 10-20 minutes. Please leave the train at “University/Botanical garden”.

Our institute is located in the building ("26.14") which is about 100 m away from the station (Red arrow in Illustration 2). The Institute itself is located on the first floor ("26.14.01").

When arriving by car, use the official address (Universitaetsstraße 1, 40225 Duesseldorf) to get to the University. When using a route incorporating the A46 to Wuppertal, drive through the tunnel (under the University) and take the 2nd exit (direction Zentrum, B8/B326 Bundesstrasse). Follow the street up to the traffic lights and take a left turn onto Universitaetsstrasse. Use the enclosed Illustration 2 to locate the usable Parking areas (in yellow boxes). The underground Parking area is accessible from Monday to Friday from 6 am to 0.30 am.

Note that the car parks closest to the institute are marked through yellow boxes. The Institute itself is located on the first floor of building 26.14 ("26.14.01"), which is labelled by a red box. Also illustrated is the path leading from the train station “Uni Ost/Botanischer Garten” to the Institute (Red arrow).

If you plan on taking a taxi cab to the University, please tell the driver to go to Christophstr. 115 (south end of Christophstrasse) in Duesseldorf. Then she/he will bring you right in front of building 26.14 (Institute of Neurobiology).
